Line Dance Floor Etiquette
Always listen to the DJ and keep noise levels down for instruction and announcements.
Never walk through a line of dancers to cross the floor, always walk round the edge or wait to the end of the dance.
Never stay on the floor to talk, if the music has started, leave the floor to chat.
Never carry food, drinks, glasses or cans on the dance floor, walk round the edge being aware of the movement of the dancers. Remember, they may not be aware you are there!
Be mindful and courteous of beginners and always encourage and support them. Remember we were all beginners once!
Always go to the front when starting off a new dance so others can fall in behind you.
Don’t try and squeeze into an already busy row, start a new one and you will find others will join you.
Don’t start a different dance unless there is plenty of room and you sense it is acceptable.
Please be aware of the space on the floor. If it is full, take small steps, keep your arms in and should you bump into someone, it is customary to apologise, even if it wasn’t your fault.
Don’t be tempted to stop in the middle of the floor to teach, leave the floor to do so.
Remember the floor is for everyone and couple dancers have right of way around the outside of the floor. Please leave enough room for them to get round the edge.
Always show appreciation by applauding Instructors, DJ’s and Live Acts.
And finally - keep smiling and enjoy yourself.
